Color me impressed by this quiet, wonderfully written effort set in a small town near the Canadian border. Bredes makes every word, every situation count in this second go-round starring Hector Bellivance, whose investigation of several murders leads him into the murky depths of the town’s past, as well as his own conflicted feelings about big city living versus small town life. Now I’m off to hunt for the first in the series, regrettably unavailable in paperback format. Can someone rectify this please?
